Rolfes White Bristle Brush – Series 582L, Round, Size 1

The Rolfes Series 582L White Hog Bristle Round Brushes combine firm natural hog bristles with a traditional round brush shape and a natural wooden long handle. The resilience and spring of hog bristle make these brushes particularly useful for paints that require a firmer brush to move, spread and manipulate colour across the painting surface.

Unlike a flat brush, the Series 582L concentrates the bristles into a rounded working end. This allows the artist to create controlled strokes, lines, curved marks and smaller areas of colour, while changes in pressure can produce progressively broader and more expressive marks. The natural separation of the bristles can also create broken edges and visible texture.

The firm hog hair is particularly useful for scumbling, dry-brush work, blending, stippling and textural effects, as well as general colour application. It provides a more pronounced brush response than softer natural hair or fine synthetic brushes.
Natural hog bristle is particularly well suited to oils, alkyds and acrylics, including heavier-bodied colours. It can also be used with gouache, tempera, poster and craft paints, and for selected textural and dry-brush techniques with watercolour.

The long natural wooden handle provides additional reach for easel painting and allows the brush to be held further from the painting surface for freer, more gestural and expressive brushwork.

Currently available in Sizes 1 and 4.

After use, clean promptly using the method appropriate to the painting medium. Reshape the bristles and allow the brush to dry thoroughly before storage.
