Rolfes White Bristle Brush – Series 579S, Flat, Short Handle

The Rolfes Series 579S White Bristle Brush combines firm natural hog bristles with a traditional flat brush shape and a natural wooden short handle. The shorter handle allows the brush to be held closer to the painting surface, providing comfortable control for easel, tabletop, classroom and craft work.

The flat bristle head is a highly versatile painting shape. Used on its broad face, it lays down solid strokes of colour and covers areas efficiently. The narrower edge can be used for more controlled marks, lines and defined edges. The natural hog bristles have the firmness and spring needed to move and manipulate paint while also allowing visible brushwork and texture where desired.

The Series 579S is particularly useful for blocking in, filling areas, broad strokes, edging, blending and general painting techniques. Hog bristle performs particularly well with acrylic, oil and alkyd paints and can also be used with tempera, poster and craft paints. It may also be used with gouache and for selected textural and dry-brush techniques with watercolour.

Each brush is individually specified by its hair width and hair length (out), providing a more useful indication of the actual working dimensions of the brush than the size designation alone.

After use, clean the brush promptly using the appropriate method for the painting medium. Reshape the bristles and allow the brush to dry thoroughly before storage.
