Rolfes Goat Hair Brush – Series 255, Round, Size 4

The Rolfes Series 255 Goat Hair Round Brushes combine soft natural goat hair with a traditional tapered round brush shape and a green long handle. The softness, flexibility and absorbency of goat hair make these brushes particularly useful for fluid painting techniques where smooth colour application and good water-holding capacity are important.

The round brush head carries water and diluted colour while tapering towards a fine working tip. This combination allows the artist to create controlled lines, flowing strokes, smaller washes, blending and detailed marks with the same brush. Varying the pressure allows the brush to move naturally between finer and broader strokes.

Natural goat hair has a softer response than hog bristle and is well suited to techniques where a gentle touch is preferred. It releases fluid colour smoothly and can be used for blending, glazing and soft transitions without the aggressive action of a firmer bristle brush.

Series 255 is particularly suited to watercolour, gouache and inks, as well as other fluid water-based media. The long green handle provides comfortable reach and can be held closer to the ferrule for precise control or further back for freer, more expressive mark-making.

Available in Sizes 2 and 4, the range provides a choice between finer, more precise applications and slightly broader strokes with increased water and colour capacity.

After use, rinse the brush thoroughly using the cleaning method appropriate to the medium. Gently reshape the round tip and allow it to dry before storage. Avoid leaving natural-hair brushes standing in water.
