The Rolfes Series 99121 Pony Hair Brushes feature soft natural pony hair shaped into a versatile flat brush head and fitted with a distinctive red long handle. Pony hair provides a softer, more flexible response than hog bristle, allowing colour to be applied and blended smoothly while still providing the control of a flat brush.
The broad face is useful for laying down colour, washes, blending and filling areas, while the narrower edge provides greater control for defined strokes and edges. A versatile natural-hair brush for watercolour, gouache, inks, tempera, poster paint and other fluid or water-based media.
The Rolfes Series 99121 Pony Hair Brush combines soft natural pony hair with a traditional flat brush shape and a red long handle. Pony hair has a softer and more flexible character than firm hog bristle, making this series particularly useful where smooth application, good colour carrying capacity and a gentler touch are required.
The flat brush head offers considerable versatility. Used on its broad face, it can lay down washes and areas of colour efficiently, blend adjoining colours and create smooth, controlled strokes. Turned onto its narrower edge, the brush can produce more defined marks, lines and edges. Changes in pressure and angle allow a variety of marks to be produced from the same brush.
Pony hair is particularly useful with watercolour, gouache, inks and other fluid water-based media. The Series 99121 can also be used with tempera, poster and craft paints, making it suitable for artists, students, schools and general creative work.
The long handle provides comfortable reach and gives the artist a choice between holding the brush closer to the ferrule for increased control or further back for freer, more expressive movement.
With various sizes available, the Series 99121 can be used for anything from smaller controlled strokes and blending to broader washes and areas of colour. Where supplied for the individual brush, hair width and hair length (out) provide the actual working dimensions of the brush head and make comparison between sizes easier.
After use, clean the brush promptly using the method appropriate to the medium. Gently reshape the flat bristle head and allow the brush to dry thoroughly before storage.
