The Rolfes Series 577 White Bristle Brush is a versatile flat brush made with firm natural white hog bristles and a short black handle. The flat bristle head provides good paint-carrying capacity and control, making it suitable for broad strokes, blocking in colour, filling areas, blending and creating clean, defined edges.
The short handle allows the brush to be held closer to the painting surface for comfortable, precise control, making the Series 577 particularly useful for tabletop painting, detailed studio work, classroom art and general creative applications. Available across a broad range of sizes for everything from smaller controlled marks to wider areas of colour.
The Rolfes Series 577 White Bristle Brush is a traditional flat brush combining firm natural white hog bristles with a short black handle. Designed as a versatile general-purpose painting brush, it offers the resilience and spring of natural hog bristle together with the close control provided by a shorter handle.
The flat brush head can be used in several different ways. The broad face carries and distributes paint efficiently for blocking in colour, filling areas and laying down strong, even strokes, while turning the brush onto its narrower edge allows for more defined lines, edges and controlled marks. The firmness and natural character of the hog bristles also make the brush useful for blending, dry-brush work, broken colour and expressive textural effects.
The short handle allows the artist to work closer to the painting surface, providing greater control for tabletop, desk and close-up painting. This makes the Series 577 a practical choice for artists, students, schools and general art and craft use.
Natural hog bristle is particularly effective with oils, alkyds and acrylics, including heavier-bodied paints that benefit from a brush with sufficient firmness to move and manipulate the colour. The Series 577 can also be used with gouache, tempera, poster and craft paints, as well as for selected dry-brush and textural techniques with watercolour.
With a broad selection of sizes available, the Series 577 can be used for everything from smaller controlled strokes and edging to broad applications of colour and larger-scale expressive brushwork. Where specified on the individual product, hair width and hair length (out) provide the actual working dimensions of the brush head and make it easier to select the appropriate size.
After use, clean the brush promptly using the appropriate method for the painting medium. Reshape the bristles and allow the brush to dry thoroughly before storage.
